The Coronavirus crisis, ‘Lockdown’ and the closure of cafes and restaurants has had a devastating impact on farmhouse cheesemakers. Many of us save ‘proper cheese’ for a treat to eat in restaurants but much of that that cheese has already been made and won't wait for our social restrictions to be lifted.

In response to this potentially devastating situation for cheesemakers and to keep us cheeselovers amused at home, the Academy of Cheese has organised a weekend long online festival 'The British Cheese Weekender' running online from 8th-10th May.  To join in, we have put together a trio of much loved British Cheeses:

Baron Bigod 200g - unpasteurised cow's milk cheeses make in Bungay, Suffolk by Fen Farm Dairy.

Colston Bassett Stilton 200g - pasteurised cow's milk blue cheese.  A traditional Stilton recipe made especially for Neals Yard Dairy.

Hafod Cheddar 200g - organic raw cow’s milk cheese made in Wales by the Holden family who are at the heart of the sustainable and organic farming movement in Britain.

We are very grateful for the support of our customers and local community through our first year but most of all recently.   To mark our birthday, we invited you to join us in helping local people hardest hit by the lockdown and Covid-19.  We are supporting the community lunch scheme and emergency food hubs around Cambridge, still the city with greatest inequality in the UK.  Cambridge Sustainable Food is co-ordinating support and we have matched customer donations of £141 to raise a total of £282 so far.  100% of donations will be used to purchase healthy food for the scheme which is ongoing.

Thank you again for your support.
